Donations
As a grass roots organization, we have helped thousands of Honduran Children and their families for over 25 years. The needs of the children and their families are so great. Any amount of money donated really does make a difference.
O ur dedicated volunteers keep our administrative and fundraising costs to a minimum (we have one paid employee), ensuring that donations are put to work where our donors want them – helping those most in need in Honduras.
Donate from Your Estate
Naming us as the beneficiary of cash or property from your estate, can be done as a direct donation or as a residual bequest of what remains after the estate has fulfilled all other commitments. Either way will leave a legacy of support for Honduran Children and your estate will benefit from the charitable donation tax receipt.
Donate Life Insurance Policies
Naming us as the beneficiary of a new or existing life insurance policy is a great way to turn a small regular payment into a larger legacy donation, without affecting the assets of your estate. Depending on how this is setup, you could receive a charitable donation tax receipt right now, or the tax receipt could benefit your estate in the future.
Donate Registered Funds
Naming us as the beneficiary of your Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), Registered Retirement Income Fund (RRIF), or Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA), removes these funds from probate, while also providing a charitable donation tax receipt to your estate to help offset any taxes due on this income.
Donate Securities
When you donate your securities directly to us, the capital gains are not subject to tax. This means a larger donation to us, and you or your estate will still benefit from a tax receipt.

Donor Bill of Rights
Friends of Honduran Children works diligently to protect the rights of its valued donors, and encourages all donors to exercise these rights.
Philanthropy is based on voluntary action for the common good. It is a tradition of giving and sharing that is primary to the quality of life. To ensure that philanthropy merits the respect and trust of the general public, and that donors and prospective donors can have full confidence in the not-for-profit organizations and causes they are asked to support, we declare that all donors have these rights:

- To be informed of the identity of those serving on the organization’s governing board, and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities.
- To have access to the organization’s most recent financial statements.
- To be assured their gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given.
- To receive appropriate acknowledgement and recognition.
- To be assured that information about their donation is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent provided by law.
- To expect that all relationships with individuals representing organizations of interest to the donor will be professional in nature.
- To be informed whether those seeking donations are volunteers, employees of the organization or hired solicitors.
- To have the opportunity for their names to be deleted from mailing lists that an organization may intend to share.
- To feel free to ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful and forthright answers.
