Mishell is an only child who carries the weight of her parents’ many sacrifices. Her father works long hours in difficult jobs, while her mother picks up small tasks whenever possible, all so their daughter can pursue an education.
Believing in her potential, they made the difficult choice to send her to a respected school in another town – despite the strain of transportation, uniforms, and the costs of her chosen computer science program.

When Mishell received a scholarship from Friends of Honduran Children in 2021, it lifted a heavy burden from her family. The support covered Mishell’s school expenses and and more recently, allowed her to purchase a computer – an essential tool for someone pursuing a career in computer science.
Now in Grade 12, Mishell has continued to excel academically, demonstrating remarkable dedication and perseverance. With each year, she has grown not only in knowledge but also in confidence, exploring a variety of subjects to discover where her passions lie. Mishell dreams of giving back – first to her family, who have supported her unwaveringly, and then to her community, hoping to create opportunities for others just as she has been given.
For more than 20 years, people like you have provided scholarships to 50 students a year in Honduras. Students like Mishell, who never missed a day of school! Your support has opened up a better future for her, her family, and her community. Thank you!
