“Casa Santa Maria”
We are excited to announce the inauguration of the new transition home for girls, “Casa Santa Maria”. Casa Santa Maria will be a home for girls from Nuevo Paraiso and Pedro Atala. Thanks to the support of their sponsors they have graduated high school and are beginning their transition out of the project.
This home will allow girls to continue with their education with university or trade school, or support them as they start their careers.
The girls from Pedro Atala started University in February. Allison is working towards her bachelor in computer science from the Catholic University of Honduras. Senaida is focusing on a degree in economics and finance at the University of Technology. This is her second year at the University. Ana is studying computer systems engineering at the UNITEC University of Technology. Gloria is working towards a bachelor of international relations and diplomacy at the Catholic University of Honduras.
Telma and Karla, from the Nuevo Paraiso village, are currently studying English at the National University of Honduras. On March 8th, the girls will be writing their admission exam. Classes will begin in May. Telma is hoping to get her degree in nursing and Karla would like to get a degree in social work.
Sister Maria Rosa spoke at the ceremony and is thrilled that the girls have a safe place where they can live and continue to study.
The house has been renovated and is fully equipped and ready for the girls to move in.
