This past March we welcomed three year old twin boys Jeferson and Yeison to our children’s village. The boys were found by a medical brigade last November and were so malnourished and sick they were hospitalized for a month.
Due to their malnutrition they were very small for their age, and suffered some developmental delays. They were the size of a one year old, and were not yet walking or talking, even though they were three years old.
Twins Jeferson and Yeison, were severely malnourished when they arrived at our project in March, 2014. Though they were 3 years old, they couldn’t walk or talk, and were the same size as Enoc, age 20 months in this photo (Top). Look at the difference Donors like you make! Thanks to sponsorship, In just a few short months of healthy eating, care and love, they are thriving, as seen in this photo below.
They have adapted to their new home and are doing so well, just a few months later! They are walking and talking and becoming more and more comfortable in their new home. We are so grateful to support from people like you who make it possible to care for children like Jeferson and Yeison.
Now, thanks to sponsors and supporters like you, the boys get healthy and nutritious meals, medical attention, and have even started pre-school. What a difference sponsorship makes!
Dr. McCallum, founder of FoHC , met these two young boys back in March when they first arrived. See them here in this video.

Last week, students from the Nuevo Paraiso village and boys from the Santiago Apostle Home went to a nearby village to celebrate Independence Day. This was a special day for children who are on the Honour Roll and for those graduating this year. We hope you enjoy seeing some photos from the day. Click on the photos to see a larger image.

Soon to be high school graduates Karla and Yuni
We are so proud of our future graduates and honour roll students! It’s amazing what support from people like you does for these students. Their lives would be so much different without the chance to live in a safe place and go to school. Thinking of being a sponsor? Read more about it here.
This month, the children celebrated children’s day in Honduras. Our staff organized a fabulous party for all the children and teens living in our Nuevo Paraiso village. We have some photos to share from the big day.
The day started with face painting! How cute are they?
They then had a sack race which was a lot of fun for the kids.
No party is complete without a Piñata!
The children had a nice hamburger and fries lunch followed by yummy cake.
Thank you to all our sponsors for giving the children a safe place to live and a chance to celebrate being a child. Happy Children’s day 2014!
Yesterday we were surprised by a visit from Taylor LeBlond, a Holy Cross student that went to Honduras with the Holy Cross Brigade this past year. He dropped off a donation of $130.85 to help the children in Honduras.
These funds were raised thanks to Taylor and his friends who put on a concert at the Spill Coffee Bar in Peterborough.
Taylor is part of the band called Clockwork Circus who played along with another group called Relativity. We are so grateful to these musicians for donating their musical talents to raise funds to help the kids in Honduras.
Do you have an idea for a great fundraiser? Take a chance! You never know how much you might be able to raise and any amount will make a difference.

It’s been a busy summer in Honduras with three brigades working hard to make a real difference. The Awareness brigade worked very hard in the mountains starting construction to complete a new school. The work will be finished up by the Grace United Brigade in November.
If there is one thing we know about FoHC volunteers… they work hard! Our team managed to find the time to unwind with the children in the mountain village they were working. Check out the video to see for yourself. (Click the link below) Yes the quality isn’t great but hey that’s cell phone service in the rural mountain areas! 🙂

Let us know…what do you think of their moves? We only wish the video was a tad longer 🙂
